Language Exchange

What's Offered?

The Language Exchange program's purpose is to bring together Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, French, English speakers and more (there's no constraint) together to practice each other's language. EASSA's VP Academic pairs or groups people together according to their speaking/known language and the language they wish to practice. Following the pairing, we hold a meet & greet and groups meet on a regular basis to have a laid-back conversation and improve their oral skills. It's a lot of fun, let's you meet new people and get better!

How does it works?

If you wish to participate you only need to fill out the form shared on our listserv and facebook page. You will then be paired according to the information you filled out, thereafter meeting your language exchange buddy or group. During this meeting, we encourage you to discuss meeting frequency and availabilities. After that, it's up to you and your group to meet and discuss!

When does it start?

We aim to start every new cycle of the language exchange program at the beginning of Fall semester of every new academic year. The exact month is subject to the executive team and VP Academic. We also let people to sign up in the Winter semester if they haven't yet and re-do pairing if necessary. We highly encourage you to check out the facebook page to check if forms have been sent out at the beginning of every semester.

I missed the deadline but I still want to participate, what should I do?

If you've passed any Fall or Winter deadline to fill the form, send us an email and we'll see what we can do! In case it is absolutely impossible to add you to the program (usually due to a shortage of speakers) we will be redirecting you to another language program or other resources that could help you.
